SHARK ISLAND EXPEDITION
Join us on a once in a lifetime experience and find yourself face to face with Tiger sharks and many different shark species in the pristine waters of Fuvahmulah, Maldives while learning photography and videography with our founder Zimy Da Kid !
Where?
Fuvahmulah, Maldives.
When?
The expedition will take place from the 15th until the 22nd of April 2024 for 7 days of underwater adventures.
What?
Scuba dive with Tiger sharks, Thresher sharks, Oceanic Manta Rays and more while learning videography and photography as well as ocean conservation and shark behavior.
How many people?
For the best experience, we keep our group small with 6 to 10 people.
FUVAHMULAH
Fuvahmulah is an island located in the south of the Maldives where you can find the highest density of Tiger sharks in the world !
The resident Tiger sharks are sighted throughout the year and to date, there are over 250 identified individuals. Tiger shark diving in Fuvahmulah is one of the only shark diving site that guarantees Tiger shark encounters.
Moreover, you will have one of the best opportunities in the world to encounter Thresher sharks. These sharks are usually in deeper waters (30-40m) but are drawn to the cleaning stations in the shallow waters.
We host this expedition in April because it is the best time of year to see Oceanic Manta rays as well as Whale sharks !
We’ll also be looking for pelagic shark species such as Oceanic white tip sharks and Silky sharks.
In the right conditions and with a bit of luck, divers can see schools of Scalloped hammerhead sharks cruising the currents. The Silver tip sharks, Grey reef and white tip sharks are some of the other shark species that complete this rich ecosystem.
WHAT WILL WE ENCOUNTER ?
-
Tiger sharks
There’s a 100% chance to see Tiger sharks all year around. This is a unique opportunity to encounter these breathtaking animals with highly experienced professionals for total safety !
-
Thresher sharks
We will dive to find some Thresher sharks. They are usually at 30-40m deep and we have to stay very quiet if we want a good interaction with them.
-
Oceanic Manta rays
The time of our expedition is the best time of year to encounter the huge oceanic Manta rays as well as the Whale sharks !
-
Pelagic sharks
During the expedition, we’ll spend a day offshore to look for pelagic shark species such as Oceanic white tip sharks or Silky sharks !
AMAZING REEFS
Beside all the sharks we’ll have the opportunity to see, the island is also home to some amazing reefs that are full of life meaning that we won’t only see sharks but we’ll also experience all the reef species: turtles, moray eels, clown fish, etc…
PELAGIC SHARKS
During the week of expedition, we’ll leave the island for a day and head far offshore to look for shark species that can’t be found close to the island. Pelagic sharks are species that live in the open ocean. We’ll try our best to find some sharks offshore for a day. If we succeed, we’ll be able to see Oceanic white tip sharks and/or Silky sharks !

ACCOMODATION
Have a look at what our previous expedition looked like:
WHY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO GO ON AN EXPEDITION ?
-
It might sound obvious since it’s the goal of the whole expedition but you’ll get to experience unique wildlife encounters !
It is very important to keep in mind that none of it must be taken for granted and that being able to see, dive and interact with such animals is something truly unique because most of the animals we’ll encounter are highly endangered of extinction because of the constant pressure of overfishing.
Some of the shark species we’ll encounter are even Critically Endangered so it is very important for us to always remain thankful to be able to witness such unique animals.
-
By joining our expeditions, you’ll get to learn more about filmmaking and photography with our founder Zimy (@zimydakid) who’s been working for many years in the film industry !
He’ll share valuable insights on how to properly shoot both photos and videos for above and underwater including best settings, camera movements, etc…
You’ll also spend time editing all together to learn more about his post-production process: pre-production, color grading, speed ramping, client communication and more !
-
At the end of the week, we’ll give everyone a photo package that includes all the best images of the expedition ! That way, if you’re used to being behind the camera, you’ll also have beautiful pictures of yourself and if you don’t even have a camera, you’ll still head back home with tons of images to share !
-
By joining us, you’re making sure you’ll spend the week with shark experts which not only means that you’ll be 100% safe but it also means that you’ll be able to learn more about human-shark interactions and how to safely dive and coexist with them !
-
During the week, we’ll make a presentation to teach everyone more about sharks: the issues they’re facing, what makes them so important for the health of our oceans and our planet and what can be done to help protect them !
We’ll share an exclusive insight into our on-going shark conservation projects and the different people we work with !
-
When you join our expeditions, you don’t just go on a diving trip, you directly support our efforts to help protect these endangered animals !
100% of the proceeds of all our expeditions is entirely used to fund our on-going shark conservation projects !
-
Our expeditions aren’t only about the wildlife we’ll get to encounter, it’s also about the people we’ll share it with.
After a week of expedition, we can assure you that we’ll all feel like a little family with hundreds of stories to say and it’ll be hard to say good bye !
